What Makes Independent Bottlers Different
Independent bottlers have long been the secret keepers of the whisky world uncovering hidden gems, championing lesser-known distilleries, and offering whisky with real character. At Bishop, Greene & Fisher, we embrace this role with pride. But what exactly sets us (and others like us) apart?

We Bottle with Freedom
Unlike big distilleries that must maintain consistency across batches, independent bottlers aren’t bound by house style. This gives us freedom to:
-
Select standout casks regardless of origin or age
-
Release one-of-a-kind bottlings without compromise
-
Highlight rare finishes and unusual spirit profiles
It’s not about mass appeal it’s about exceptional whisky, one cask at a time.
Access to the Unseen
We work closely with distilleries, brokers, and warehouses across Scotland to source spirit that might never be seen on the open market. Some casks are surplus, some are experimental, and some are just too distinctive for core range bottlings but for us, they’re gold.
Transparency & Provenance
We celebrate the distillery of origin, the cask type, the finish, the age, the ABV - everything that shaped the whisky. There’s no smoke and mirrors, just honest information and flavour-forward bottlings.
Our Role as Curators
At BG&F, we don’t just bottle whisky. We select it. Every cask is chosen for a reason whether it’s an expressive Speyside malt, a powerful Islay dram, or a delicate grain whisky aged to perfection. Our name on the label means it passed our standards.
Independent bottlers offer something no standard brand can: individuality. Each release tells a unique story, bottled at its peak and presented with care. At Bishop, Greene & Fisher, we’re not just bottling whisky we’re showcasing the soul of the cask.
